About the track

TIFFY’s latest single “Scam Likely” takes her dusky, kaleidoscopic musical approach past bedroom pop and punk,”soft punk”, towards earnest and sheer power pop. “Scam Likely” follows up a recent single/cover of Ace of Base’s “The Sign” and her 2024 EP 2. She continues in 2’s sonic landscape “half-mirror, half-gazing ball, reflecting TIFFY’s original scrappy sound while also rounding out her riffs with a more lush approach to instrumentation and production.” (Vanyaland). Sammy crafted the song with her live band out in Western Massachusetts with engineer and producer Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, Sonic Youth, Speedy Ortiz, Sebadoh). In the pursuit of higher fidelity she stays true to “...her signature dreamy approach, TIFFY balances grit with softness.” (Loud Women).

Sammy says of the track “I get an endless amount of scam phone calls; it’s the only thing trying to reach me since no one talks on the phone anymore. I wanted to entertain the idea of what if I just picked up the phone and it actually changed my entire world? I felt this way as a reaction to the relentless digital ether tech void we live in. In producing the tracks it was amazing to expand the range of instruments used. In addition to the standard rock setup on the track we used pedal steel, fun synth organs, and analog gear like a Chamberlin."

With countless shows under her belt, TIFFY has established herself as a formidable live presence in the Boston and New England music scenes, opening for Speedy Ortiz, Guerilla Toss, and as a part of music festivals NICE, a fest, The Town & City Festival, The Thing In The Spring, SOME fest, and more.
